Trainee Store Manager

About the role

This Trainee Store Manager position offers a hands‑on opportunity to support the store management team while gaining comprehensive experience across all store departments. You will work in a fast‑paced grocery environment, learning the operational, commercial and customer‑facing aspects of retail.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the management team in daily store operations and departmental tasks.
• Help set, monitor and achieve sales targets, gross profit, net margin, waste reduction and other KPIs.
• Participate in training, development initiatives and performance assessments.
• Maintain store presentation to the highest standard, following planograms and merchandising guidelines.
• Implement ordering, delivery, stock rotation and control procedures.
• Manage assigned departments and support new initiatives.

Required profile

• 1 year of experience in the retail industry (desirable).
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Experience handling cash/tills and fresh food is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, delegation and commercial awareness.
• Highly driven, strong work ethic and passion for grocery retail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
