VT Instructor – Business Studies & IT (Permanent, 36h)

About the role

The VT Instructor will deliver business studies and IT training to learners with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder, supporting them to develop digital competencies and explore further education or employment pathways. This permanent, full‑time position involves both classroom and online delivery within an inclusive, volunteer‑run organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop lesson plans, training materials and assessments aligned with learner needs and industry standards.
• Apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to ensure accessibility for all learners.
• Integrate Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) tools and digital platforms into teaching and assessment practices.
• Support learners in building practical digital skills and problem‑solving abilities.
• Assess learner progress, provide constructive feedback and maintain accurate records.
• Facilitate both on‑site and virtual learning sessions.
• Stay updated on current IT trends, digital technologies and best educational practices.
• Promote a positive, learner‑centred and inclusive environment.

Required profile

• Education to third‑level standard (e.g., Youth and Community Work, teaching, adult education).
• Relevant training qualification such as Train the Trainer.
• QQI Level 6 qualification in IT and Digital Skills.
• Experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and ASD.
