Youth Engagement Worker

About the role

The Cancer Fund for Children is expanding its youth engagement programme across Ireland. The Youth Engagement Worker will join the all‑Island Youth Engagement Team to develop, coordinate and deliver activities that give children and young people affected by cancer a voice in the charity’s work.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, recruit and train Young Ambassadors and other youth volunteers.
• Design and deliver a regular programme of youth‑focused activities and consultations.
• Support young people to campaign, lobby and take part in public consultations on issues that matter to them.
• Work with the Youth Engagement Manager to create operational plans and ensure safe, needs‑led delivery of all activities.
• Maintain accurate case records, risk assessments and support plans for each participant.
• Build and sustain relationships with internal teams and external organisations that can provide training, support or partnership opportunities.

Required profile

• Experience working with children, young people or volunteers, preferably in a charitable or community‑development setting.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to listen to and amplify young voices.
• Ability to organise recruitment, training and ongoing engagement programmes.
• Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and inclusive practice.
