Academic Council Officer

About the role

Maynooth University is seeking an Academic Council Officer on a specified‑purpose contract to provide dedicated administrative support to the Academic Council and its committees. The role ensures that council activities align with standing orders and university statutes, contributing to the smooth governance of academic affairs.

Key responsibilities

• Administer the Academic Council’s processes in line with its standing orders and university statutes.
• Manage committee membership records and coordinate meeting logistics.
• Prepare agenda documents, supporting papers, and accurate minutes for council and committee meetings.
• Distribute follow‑up correspondence, communicate decisions, and maintain clear records of outcomes.
• Report to the Vice‑President for Academic & Registrar on council matters and collaborate with Faculty Deans on faculty‑related meetings.
• Support the broader administrative team serving the Governing Authority and faculty committees.

Required profile

• Experience in administrative support within a higher‑education environment.
• Familiarity with academic governance structures, statutes, and standing orders.
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior academic and administrative staff.
