AI / Data Engineer

About the role

Apple is seeking an AI / Data Engineer to join its EMEIA Supply Chain team. The role focuses on creating AI‑powered applications, scalable backend services, and generative AI solutions that address real‑world operational challenges in logistics and supply chain.

Key responsibilities

• Develop AI‑driven applications and workflows using Large Language Models, prompt engineering, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) and agent‑based AI.
• Design and implement multi‑agent AI capabilities, orchestration patterns, tool integrations, and context handling for supply‑chain use cases.
• Build and optimise backend AI and data services with Snowflake, Airflow, Python and related cloud tools.
• Create and refine prompts, system instructions, and evaluation methods to improve AI output quality and reliability.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations teams to translate business challenges into scalable AI and analytics solutions.
• Support deployment, monitoring, testing, governance and continuous improvement of AI solutions.
• Contribute to best‑practice guidelines for AI engineering, data engineering and modern software development.
• Develop APIs, tools and lightweight applications that enable business users to consume data and AI capabilities efficiently.

Required profile

• Proven experience in data engineering, AI engineering or machine‑learning infrastructure.
• Strong Python and SQL programming skills with experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Hands‑on experience with modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Spark, Kafka, Airflow or dbt.
• Experience working with Large Language Models, including prompt engineering and agentic AI workflows.
• Familiarity with application frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, Streamlit or React.
• Solid understanding of data architecture, APIs and scalable system design.
• Ability to communicate technical solutions clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
