Analytics Engineer

About the role
Jacobs is expanding its analytics capability within transportation in Dublin, focusing on the BusConnects programme. As an Analytics Engineer you will help shape analytical processes, influence how data is used, and deliver insights that improve daily commutes and city sustainability.
Key responsibilities
- Translate ambiguous business problems into structured data questions and testable hypotheses.
- Apply descriptive, inferential and predictive analytics, including regression, hypothesis testing and sampling.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns, trends and anomalies.
- Build reproducible analytical workflows using Python and notebook environments.
- Leverage AI and copilot tools for code generation and insight discovery, with rigorous validation.
- Query, validate and manipulate data across multiple sources using SQL.
- Create clear visualisations and narrative insights for diverse audiences.
- Communicate findings to support decision‑making while respecting data uncertainty.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine data requirements and ensure relevance.
- Assess data quality, bias and limitations, adhering to governance, privacy and ethical standards.
Required profile
- Strong analytical mindset with experience framing business problems as data questions.
- Ability to work independently in a fast‑growing, greenfield environment.
- Excellent communication skills for translating technical results to non‑technical audiences.
Required skills
- Python (pandas, numpy, scipy, statsmodels)
- SQL for data extraction and transformation
- Jupyter or similar notebook tools
- Azure data platforms (Fabric, Synapse, Databricks)
- Azure Data Factory
- AI/copilot tools for analytics acceleration
- Data visualisation libraries (matplotlib, seaborn, Plotly)
- Git for version control and CI/CD practices
