Android Engineer - Java / Kotlin

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Android Engineer with strong Java/Kotlin expertise to join the Sensors team of a multinational semiconductor company in Cork. You will work on mobile applications that collect sensor data and on cross‑platform desktop tools that interact with Android devices.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test Android applications for sensor data collection and feature demonstration.
• Create and maintain cross‑platform desktop tools (Windows/Linux) that control devices, validate data, visualize results, and support post‑processing.
• Develop Java‑based components following industry‑standard design patterns and deployment models.
• Work on prototype and reference platforms covering mobile, wearables, and smart‑glasses form factors.
• Collaborate with global, cross‑functional teams to commercialise sensor algorithms and features.
• Contribute to end‑to‑end data processing pipelines and optimise production workflows.
• Support internal data‑collection campaigns and assist with field data collection on employee devices.
• Provide customer‑facing demos, algorithm validation, and triage support.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience developing Android applications using the Android SDK (Android Studio preferred).
• Strong object‑oriented programming skills in Java or Kotlin.
• Proficiency in system‑level development with C++ and Python.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
