Assistant General Manager

About the role

As an Assistant General Manager at aparto, you will support the General Manager in delivering a safe, vibrant, and well‑run student accommodation experience across multiple sites. You will act as the right‑hand to the GM, helping to drive occupancy, ensure compliance, and foster a strong community for residents, parents, and university partners.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with day‑to‑day operations, health & safety compliance, and budget oversight.
• Lead a diverse on‑site team, providing training, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Drive sales and marketing activities, including face‑to‑face tours, on‑site promotions, telephone and email enquiries.
• Manage financial transactions: collect rent, post fees, reconcile bank accounts, prepare reports, and process invoices.
• Organise events, activities, and partnerships that enhance community spirit and resident satisfaction.
• Maintain strong relationships with residents, parents, universities, and other stakeholders.
• Monitor operational costs, optimise resource allocation, and contribute to achieving financial targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in property or hospitality management, preferably within student accommodation.
• Strong leadership abilities with a focus on teamwork and staff development.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills, able to resolve concerns promptly.
• Ability to manage budgets, track expenses, and produce accurate financial reports.
• Organisational talent for planning events and coordinating multiple tasks.

Required skills

• Knowledge of health and safety regulations for residential properties.
• Experience with lease administration and rent collection processes.
• Familiarity with basic financial software or accounting tools.
