Assistant Manager – Retail

About the role

Our client, a leading high‑volume retail store in Athlone, is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in driving sales, operational excellence, and exceptional customer experiences. This is a fast‑paced, on‑site role within a rapidly expanding market‑leader.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of a department and act as Duty Manager when the Store Manager is absent.
• Support the Store Manager in achieving financial KPIs such as turnover, wages, wastage, and shrinkage.
• Ensure high standards of customer service, store presentation, stock control, and compliance with health & safety policies.
• Utilise management information to make strategic decisions and improve store performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a fast‑paced retail environment.
• Strong leadership, planning, organisational and communication abilities.
• Target‑driven, customer‑focused and highly motivated.
• Hands‑on attitude – comfortable working on the shop floor.
