Assistant Professor / Lecturer – Accounting

About the role

Maynooth University is seeking an experienced academic to join the School of Business as an Assistant Professor or Lecturer in Accounting. The successful candidate will contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, supervise Master’s and PhD research, and develop a strong research profile aligned with the university’s strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality lectures, seminars and tutorials for accounting programmes.
• Supervise and mentor Master’s and doctoral students.
• Develop and maintain an active research agenda, publish in international journals and secure external funding.
• Participate in departmental and university committees and contribute to curriculum development.
• Collaborate with national and international research institutes.

Required profile

• Proven record of teaching excellence at the university level.
• Demonstrated research achievements and publications appropriate to the career stage.
• Ability to attract and supervise postgraduate research students.
• Commitment to the university’s goals of research excellence and high‑quality education.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of accounting theory and practice.
• Experience with academic research methods and scholarly publishing.
• Effective communication and presentation skills for classroom and conference settings.
