Associate – Employment Law (Ireland)

About the role

McCann FitzGerald LLP is seeking an Associate to join its Tier‑1 Employment Law Group. The role offers the chance to work on a broad spectrum of contentious and non‑contentious employment matters for major Irish and international clients.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on employment contracts, policies and procedures.
• Provide guidance on HR‑related legal queries, including absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance, corporate immigration, bullying, harassment, restructuring, redundancies, restrictive covenants, mandatory retirement and termination.
• Conduct investigations, particularly relating to protected disclosures.
• Advise on labour issues arising in corporate transactions.
• Represent clients in employment litigation before the Workplace Relations Commission, Labour Court and civil courts, with opportunities for senior associates to undertake advocacy.
• Advise on transfers of undertakings.
• Prepare and deliver presentations on employment law topics to clients and colleagues.
• Engage proactively in business development activities.

Required profile

• 3+ years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in Ireland or the UK.
• Strong experience across contentious, advisory and transactional employment law.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Sound judgement and decision‑making ability.
• Ability to multi‑task and manage client needs consistently.
• Genuine passion for business development.
• Keen interest in maintaining and sharing legal knowledge.
• Positive, team‑player attitude.
