About the role
McCann FitzGerald LLP is seeking an Associate to join its Tier‑1 Employment Law Group. The role offers the chance to work on a broad spectrum of contentious and non‑contentious employment matters for major Irish and international clients.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on employment contracts, policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance on HR‑related legal queries, including absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance, corporate immigration, bullying, harassment, restructuring, redundancies, restrictive covenants, mandatory retirement and termination.
- Conduct investigations, particularly relating to protected disclosures.
- Advise on labour issues arising in corporate transactions.
- Represent clients in employment litigation before the Workplace Relations Commission, Labour Court and civil courts, with opportunities for senior associates to undertake advocacy.
- Advise on transfers of undertakings.
- Prepare and deliver presentations on employment law topics to clients and colleagues.
- Engage proactively in business development activities.
Required profile
- 3+ years post‑qualification experience (PQE) in Ireland or the UK.
- Strong experience across contentious, advisory and transactional employment law.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Sound judgement and decision‑making ability.
- Ability to multi‑task and manage client needs consistently.
- Genuine passion for business development.
- Keen interest in maintaining and sharing legal knowledge.
- Positive, team‑player attitude.
