Associate Professor – Chemistry with AI/ML

About the role

Dublin City University seeks an Associate Professor to lead the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning within the School of Chemical Sciences. The successful candidate will join a vibrant research community and contribute to undergraduate teaching, research excellence, and university service.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate courses in chemistry, data science, and AI/ML.
• Develop and lead research projects in AI‑driven materials discovery, cheminformatics, predictive modelling, and data‑intensive chemical research.
• Supervise graduate students and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Collaborate with industry partners and external stakeholders to translate research into applications.
• Participate in departmental service, curriculum development, and academic committees.

Required profile

• Established record of research in at least one of the following: AI‑driven materials discovery, cheminformatics, predictive modelling, biomaterials, molecular dynamics, energy materials, or nanomaterials.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level.
• Ability to build interdisciplinary collaborations within and beyond the university.
• Strong publication record in relevant fields.
