Automation Engineer

About the role

The Automation Engineer is responsible for monitoring quality and efficiency of assigned product lines, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with GMP standards. This role combines technical expertise in additive manufacturing with systematic problem‑solving to drive production excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Support design, buy‑off, installation and validation of automated production lines.
• Perform process characterisation and optimisation using DFMEA, PFMEA, DOE and related tools.
• Lead systematic technical root‑cause investigations.
• Assist production line ramp‑up to meet mature production targets.
• Develop and implement production methods and controls for new and existing additive‑manufacturing processes.
• Monitor additive‑manufacturing processes, troubleshoot issues and resolve quality problems.
• Act as technical expert on various projects and production jobs.
• Drive continuous‑improvement projects.
• Manage project budgets and liaise with customers and contractors.
• Support technical training and company safety/quality programmes.
• Ensure ongoing GMP compliance and proper recording of events and processes.

Required profile

• Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
• 3‑6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with high‑volume automated assembly or medical‑device manufacturing.
• Willingness to travel for equipment buy‑offs and training at vendor or customer sites.
