Azure Cloud Engineer (Infrastructure / SRE)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to manage and improve a large‑scale Azure estate comprising roughly 150 applications and 2,500 virtual machines. You will ensure service reliability, security, and compliance while driving automation and observability across the environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain an up‑to‑date inventory of servers, applications, and configurations.
• Plan, execute, and validate application deployments, configuration changes, and patching.
• Investigate and resolve complex cross‑platform incidents, lead root‑cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, and Python; contribute to AIOps and self‑healing initiatives.
• Administer Azure compute, storage, and OS‑layer services, including networking components such as VNets, subnets, NSGs, and private connectivity.
• Implement and tune monitoring, alerting, and dashboards to improve signal quality and reduce noise.
• Apply hardening, patching, and access controls in line with PCI DSS and internal security standards.
• Contribute to infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform and/or Azure Bicep.
• Create and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
• Proven background migrating workloads from VMware/ESX or private cloud to Azure.
• Extensive Windows Server administration (2008‑2022) and Active Directory knowledge.
• Solid understanding of DNS, certificates, service accounts, GPOs, IIS, and SQL Server infrastructure.
• Experience working in ITSM or change‑controlled environments.
