Backend Engineer – Python & AWS (Dublin or Madrid)

About the role

Fresco is seeking a Backend Engineer to help build and scale its smart kitchen platform, KitchenOS. You will develop backend services that power IoT devices and mobile clients, working within a team that serves leading appliance brands worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain reliable Python‑based backend services across ~20 Lambda micro‑services.
• Work with AWS CDK, aws‑lambda‑powertools, EventBridge, SQS/SNS and other cloud services to enable device control, cooking sessions, media, recipes, authentication and AI features.
• Execute cloud‑to‑cloud integrations with new partners and support production operations.
• Participate in on‑call rotation (one week every 4‑5 weeks) to monitor platform health.
• Stay current with industry innovations and contribute to continuous improvement.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience building backend services in Python.
• Strong understanding of event‑driven architectures and AWS serverless technologies.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS Lambda and CDK in production environments.
• Proficiency in observability tools such as structured logging and distributed tracing (Datadog or equivalent).
• Fluent English communication skills, both technical and non‑technical.
