BMS Technical Director – Data Centers

About the role

A leading specialist in Building Management Systems and Critical Environment Automation is looking for an experienced BMS Technical Director for a hybrid position based in Dublin. This senior leadership role drives the company's technical strategy, engineering excellence and innovation across a portfolio of high-profile data center and mission-critical projects, working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead the company's technical vision for BMS/controls and act as the highest level of technical authority on all BMS projects
• Provide technical leadership across design, implementation, commissioning and the full lifecycle of complex BMS installations
• Develop and maintain engineering standards, design principles and technical governance, ensuring projects meet industry best practice and client requirements
• Drive continuous improvement, introduce new technologies and platforms, and develop standards, SOPs, technical documentation and engineering templates
• Support business development through technical proposals, presentations and solution development, and work with commercial teams during tenders and pre-construction
• Act as senior technical advisor to key clients and build long-term relationships with clients, consultants and stakeholders
• Contribute to business planning and long-term engineering strategy and take part in senior leadership meetings

Required profile

• Extensive experience delivering BMS projects and previous leadership in a BMS integrator or controls specialist
• Experience in data centers, pharmaceuticals, healthcare or other critical environments
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills
• Experience developing engineering standards and technical governance
• Commercial awareness and ability to support business growth through technical leadership

Required skills

• Knowledge of platforms such as Schneider EcoStruxure, Trend, Tridium Niagara, Siemens Desigo, Honeywell, Distech or Johnson Controls
• Understanding of BACnet, Modbus, MQTT and wider smart building technologies
