Business Office Manager

About the role

The Business Office Manager supports the smooth operation of a skilled‑nursing facility by overseeing business office systems, managing billing processes, and supervising staff. This position ensures compliance with Medi‑Cal/Medicaid regulations and maintains accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and manage Medi‑Cal/Medicaid authorizations, including bedholds and redeterminations.
• Supervise business office staff, handle disciplinary actions, and schedule work assignments.
• Maintain resident census, track status changes, and prepare monthly trust‑fund statements.
• Participate in billing, payment processing, bank deposits, and collection of bad debts.
• Assist with resident trust‑fund management and prepare required reports (e.g., TARS).
• Attend stand‑up meetings as requested by the Administrator.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of skilled‑nursing billing and payment processes.
• Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, policies, and manuals.
• Mathematical competence for fractions, percentages, and ratios.
• Problem‑solving and reasoning abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
