Buyer / Purchaser for Construction Projects

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced Buyer to support their construction team in County Mayo. The role involves managing procurement activities, sourcing materials and services, and ensuring cost‑effective, timely supply for residential construction projects.

Key responsibilities

• Acquire materials, sub‑contractors, suppliers and services required for building, maintaining and managing residential properties.
• Source building materials, negotiate vendor contracts and control supply‑chain costs.
• Issue tender documents for construction works and maintenance repairs.
• Evaluate new suppliers, verify insurance and tax certificates, and organise review meetings.
• Ensure all purchases and contracts comply with public procurement guidelines, including national and EU directives.
• Maintain the purchasing database, process orders and track supplier performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Buyer, Procurement or Supply‑Chain role.
• Construction industry experience is highly desirable.
• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation abilities.
• Experience using procurement or accounts systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
