Clinical Nurse Manager II – Medical Oncology

About the role

UPMC Whitfield Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager II for its Medical Oncology Day Ward. The role provides clinical leadership, operational oversight and governance for safe, high‑quality oncology and haematology day services. Flexible working and job‑share arrangements are available.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a skilled nursing team in delivering systemic anti‑cancer therapies (SACT), supportive therapies, patient education and holistic care.
• Ensure safe, compliant administration of SACT and supportive therapies in line with NCCP, UPMC protocols and best practice guidelines.
• Oversee accurate use of the ARIA oncology information system and IPIMs for chemotherapy verification and documentation.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, manage toxicity, coordinate escalation of care and respond to emergencies.
• Maintain high standards of medication safety, infection prevention and control, and complete clinical audits and risk assessments.
• Support development and review of clinical policies, care pathways and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Advanced clinical expertise in oncology and haematology nursing.
• Strong patient focus and ability to act as an expert resource.
• Leadership experience managing a nursing team in a day‑ward setting.
• Commitment to regulatory compliance, safety and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ARIA oncology information system.
• Experience using IPIMs for patient management.
• Administration of systemic anti‑cancer therapies (SACT) and supportive treatments.
• Venepuncture, IV cannulation and central venous access device (CVAD) management.
