Clinical Nurse Specialist – Perinatal Mental Health

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Perinatal Mental Health Care) will join Mid-West Mental Health Services, providing specialist nursing support to women and families experiencing perinatal mental health difficulties across the Mid-West region of Ireland.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive perinatal mental health assessments and interventions as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, midwives and allied health professionals.
• Provide education and support to service users, families and carers about perinatal mental health conditions.
• Participate in case conferences, clinical audits and service development initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of evidence‑based policies and protocols for perinatal mental health services.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse with current registration in Ireland.
• Specialist experience or training in mental health nursing, preferably with exposure to perinatal populations.
• Demonstrated ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and deliver coordinated care.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to recovery‑focused, patient‑centred practice.
