CLOAS Developer – 6‑month contract

About the role

Our client, a leading financial services organisation, is looking for an experienced CLOAS Developer to join the IT team on a six‑month contract. You will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining core business applications that support life assurance, pensions and insurance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain CLOAS‑based applications in line with business and technical requirements.
• Work across CLOAS administration systems, including screen development, browser functionality, batch processes and job scheduling.
• Support application development and integration across legacy and modern platforms (COBOL.NET, Java, etc.).
• Analyse technical specifications and translate them into secure, maintainable code.
• Develop and maintain code using COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, SQL Server and related technologies.
• Provide data extraction, reporting, ETL and integration support, moving data to downstream systems.
• Collaborate with business analysts, testers, architects, infrastructure teams and third‑party vendors.
• Deliver production support, troubleshoot issues and resolve defects in CLOAS applications.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of software development experience, including 2–5 years hands‑on with CLOAS.
• Strong background in financial services (life assurance, pensions, insurance) and regulated environments.
• Proven experience with batch processing, job scheduling and production support.
• Ability to investigate system issues, identify root causes and implement high‑quality fixes.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with technical teams and business stakeholders.
