About the role

Direct Medics is seeking a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine for a locum position at Mayo University Hospital. The role starts as soon as possible and is ongoing, offering the opportunity to deliver specialist care to older patients within a leading Irish teaching hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive geriatric assessments and manage acute and chronic conditions in older adults.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality patient care.
• Participate in teaching, audit, and quality‑improvement activities.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to hospital policies.

Required profile

• Valid IMC registration.
• Right to work in the Republic of Ireland.
• Minimum six months experience in geriatric medicine or a similar role within the UK or Ireland.
• Eligibility for locum assignments.

Required skills

• Clinical expertise in geriatric medicine.
• Ability to perform comprehensive assessments and develop care plans.
• Knowledge of Irish healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in clinical documentation and patient record systems.
