Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

About the role

The NHS Scotland is seeking a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join the Phoenix Centre CAMHS Clinic at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. This senior clinical position will support the delivery of high‑quality mental health services for children and young people and contribute to the service’s ambitious development plans.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical leadership within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
• Deliver multidisciplinary, multi‑agency care for complex cases, including eating disorders and neuro‑developmental conditions.
• Support the expansion of intensive home treatment and liaison services.
• Collaborate with professional leads, senior team members, and external partners to ensure best practice.
• Participate in local, regional and national continuing professional development (CPD) activities.

Required profile

• Qualified Consultant Psychiatrist with a recognised subspecialty in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
• Demonstrated experience in leading CAMHS teams or similar services.
• Commitment to a culture of clinical excellence, staff training and innovative service development.
• Willingness to work on‑site at the Phoenix Centre without out‑of‑hours commitments.

Required skills

• Knowledge of eating disorders, neuro‑developmental conditions and intensive home treatment models.
