Cyber Security Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Cyber Security Engineer to join the IT team of a large Irish multinational. The role focuses on driving security accreditation, improving security maturity and ensuring the organisation remains audit‑ready against standards such as Cyber Essentials Plus and ISO 27001.

Key responsibilities

• Own and maintain Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation and prepare evidence for audits.
• Align security controls with ISO 27001, NIS2, GDPR and industry best practices across firewalls, server and endpoint configuration, and privileged access management.
• Manage security configurations in Microsoft 365 and Azure, including Conditional Access, Entra ID, MFA, Intune, Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity and Sentinel.
• Lead vulnerability, patch and malware protection programmes, and drive remediation to closure.
• Coordinate cyber incident response, breach management and post‑incident lessons learned.
• Develop and maintain security policies, procedures and standards, and deliver security awareness training.
• Provide senior escalation support for IT issues and administer core platforms such as Azure, Active Directory and VMware/vCenter.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline.
• 4–5 years of hands‑on IT experience with a primary focus on cybersecurity.
• Demonstrated experience managing security certifications and regulatory compliance (e.g., NIS2, GDPR).
