Data Centre Maintenance Engineer

About the role

The Data Centre Maintenance Engineer ensures the continuous operation, reliability and safety of all site infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems. This hands‑on role works on a rotating day/night shift pattern and reports to the Maintenance Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and HVAC equipment, such as generators, fire‑alarm and suppression systems.
• Carry out hands‑on inspections, site walk‑throughs and preventive maintenance to keep assets in optimal condition.
• Monitor alarms and faults via BMS, PMS and CMS, and respond promptly to incidents.
• Execute planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks according to the site schedule.
• Apply Permit to Work (PTW) and change‑management procedures, reviewing RAMS before critical works.
• Act as an Authorised Person for electrical switching activities where required.
• Maintain accurate records in CMMS/CAFM, including incident reports, asset registers and maintenance logs.
• Support alarm management, clean‑ups and historical data extraction.
• Serve as first responder during critical incidents, assisting with fault diagnosis, isolation, escalation and system restoration.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in maintaining electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems in a data‑centre or similar environment.
• Ability to work rotating day and night shifts and respond to emergencies.
• Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation and company HSE policies.
• Experience with Permit to Work, RAMS and first‑responder procedures.
• Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
