About the role
The Decontamination Technician provides a comprehensive re‑processing service for reusable medical devices across theatres, wards and clinics. The role supports a wide range of specialties, including orthopaedics, general surgery, ENT, ophthalmic, gynaecology and urology, ensuring that all equipment is safely cleaned and ready for patient use.
Key responsibilities
- Clean, disinfect and sterilise reusable medical devices following NHS standards.
- Operate and maintain decontamination equipment and monitoring systems.
- Manage the flow of devices between clinical areas and the decontamination department.
- Adhere to health and safety, infection control and quality assurance procedures.
- Work a flexible shift pattern, including night shifts, to meet service demands.
Required profile
- Enthusiastic and hardworking individuals with a commitment to patient safety.
- Willingness to undertake a one‑year in‑house training programme.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights.
- Eligibility to work in the UK without requiring a Skilled Worker or Health and Care Worker visa.
Required skills
- Medical device decontamination procedures.
- Sterilisation processes and equipment operation.
- Understanding of infection control standards.
