Deli Assistant

About the role
The Deli Assistant will work in the fresh‑food area of Hegarty's Centra, preparing high‑quality hot and cold deli products while ensuring that every customer leaves satisfied. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a fast‑paced retail environment and has a genuine passion for food.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare customer orders across all fresh‑food sections, including sandwiches, rolls, hot dishes, and sliced meats.
- Cook, assemble, and display deli items throughout the day, adhering to portion‑control standards.
- Maintain clean and attractive counter displays in all fresh‑food departments.
- Share product knowledge, recipes, and personal recommendations with shoppers.
- Handle customer queries promptly and professionally, following store policies.
Required profile
- Excellent communication skills.
- Previous customer‑service experience is an advantage.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment and multitask under pressure.
- Availability to work during school term time.
Required skills
- HACCP training (desirable but not mandatory).
