Design Engineer – Mechanical Tooling

About the role

We are partnering with a leading engineering and manufacturing organisation to find an experienced Design Engineer. The role focuses on designing in‑die and specialised installation tooling for both manual and automated production lines, supporting projects from concept through to delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop in‑die tooling and specialised installation tooling for manual and automated manufacturing systems.
• Manage multiple engineering projects, including data evaluation, costing, quoting, tool design, die reviews, manufacture, assembly, testing and final dispatch.
• Support installation and commissioning activities as required.
• Create, update and maintain technical drawings, engineering documentation and design records.
• Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Engineering and customers to ensure successful project delivery.
• Maintain Bills of Materials, routers and engineering data within internal systems.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency and manufacturing processes.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, tooling or mechanical design.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (CAD/CAM) and proven project‑management capability.
• Engineering qualification (discipline flexible) with a solid mechanical engineering aptitude.
• Experience in CNC machining and/or press‑shop environments is beneficial.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
• Willingness to travel within Europe on short notice.
