Desktop Support Engineer – Shannon Airport (Level 1)

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Desktop Support Engineer (Level 1) to join the IT team at Shannon Airport. You will provide on‑site support for a wide range of airport systems while developing the skills needed to progress to higher‑level support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide deskside support for desktops, laptops, printers and peripherals – from installation to break/fix.
• Act as on‑site “Smart Hands” for network and server teams, assisting with hardware, cabling and rack work.
• Support Windows operating systems, standard desktop applications and mobile devices (iOS/Android).
• Manage user accounts in Active Directory (password resets, unlocks, group changes, drive mapping).
• Troubleshoot basic connectivity issues (LAN/WAN, VPN, Wi‑Fi) using diagnostic tools.
• Configure and support mobile devices.
• Participate in scheduled software and OS image deployments following established processes.
• Learn and assist with airport‑specific systems such as car‑park management, hold baggage, baggage identification & weighing, CCTV, IP telephony, POS retail and airport lighting.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of IT support experience (hardware/software troubleshooting).
• CompTIA A+ certification or willingness to obtain it.
• Basic knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN and RDP.
• Clear, confident communication in English (C1 level).
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and follow security/compliance requirements.
• Valid right to work in Ireland and five years continuous work/education history for airside clearance.
