Director, Data Engineering

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead the design, development, and delivery of cutting‑edge data solutions within its Financial Crime Solutions program. You will shape the data engineering strategy, ensure platform reliability, and enable advanced analytics for crypto and digital‑asset fraud prevention.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute short‑ and mid‑term data engineering strategy aligned with business goals.
• Architect, design, and deliver complex data pipelines and platforms that meet reliability, scalability, and cost‑effectiveness targets.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Data Science, Platform, and Integration teams to create pragmatic implementation plans.
• Build a data roadmap that balances new capabilities with platform health.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, code reviews, and coaching.
• Champion data quality, security, privacy, and compliance across the data lifecycle.
• Enable machine‑learning use cases by partnering with Data Scientists.
• Evaluate technology investments to improve pipeline efficiency and observability.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in data engineering or related fields.
• Strong ability to translate business outcomes into scalable data products.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Track record of driving operational excellence and fostering a culture of quality.
