About the role
The Director of Finance will report directly to the Chief Executive of Longford County Council and lead the Authority’s finance function. As a senior member of the Management Team, the role combines strategic oversight with day‑to‑day financial leadership in a public‑sector environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead, develop and manage the finance department across the Authority.
- Provide independent, objective financial advice to senior leadership.
- Contribute to the strategic planning and management of the Council’s financial resources.
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance with statutory requirements.
- Support broader organisational management tasks as required by the Senior Management Team.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in senior finance roles, preferably within the public sector.
- Proven ability to manage large finance teams and complex budgets.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Commitment to high‑performance culture and public‑service values.
