Electrical Shift Technician

About the role

The Electrical Shift Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the plant’s electrical utilities on a rotating shift pattern. The role covers high‑voltage (HV) and low‑voltage (LV) distribution, turbines, generators, boilers and related systems at our Clondalkin site in Dublin. You will work closely with shift teams, service providers and the site engineering group to ensure reliable plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily activities with on‑site shift technicians and manage morning shift hand‑overs.
• Act as the primary point of contact for external service providers.
• Troubleshoot and conduct root‑cause investigations on utility plant equipment failures.
• Record and investigate deviations, ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Execute planned preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Develop and maintain PM schedules, job plans and SOPs in the CMMS (Pemac).
• Liaise with the site planner to identify spare‑part requirements and optimise the maintenance programme.
• Support emergency situations outside normal hours and assist with plant isolation for projects.
• Participate in root‑cause analysis and capital improvement projects, including commissioning and hand‑over.

Required profile

• Proven experience with HV/LV distribution, turbines, diesel generators, boilers and fuel‑oil systems.
• Ability to make leadership decisions on plant operation, including shutdowns and standby activation.
• Strong understanding of emergency response procedures for utility outages.
• Experience mentoring technical staff and developing their problem‑solving capabilities.
• Willingness to support the Site Engineer and HV Engineer on complex isolations and improvement initiatives.

What we offer

• Permanent contract with a total annual compensation of €93,000 (all‑in).
• Shift pattern of 4 × 12.25 hour day blocks followed by 4 × 12.25 hour night blocks.
