Employee Engagement & Internal Communications Specialist

About the role

ESB is looking for an experienced Employee Engagement & Internal Communications Specialist to help its workforce navigate rapid transformation. The role will support the employee experience through clear, strategic communication that aligns with the Net Zero by 2040 ambition.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and delivery of employee engagement and communications strategies across ESB.
• Provide expert guidance to senior leaders and central stakeholders on engagement and communications approaches.
• Develop, support, and improve internal communications channels and processes.
• Partner with the Employee Engagement & Communications team and external creative agencies to design impactful company‑wide campaigns.
• Build relationships across the organisation to maximise communications effectiveness and stakeholder engagement.
• Establish robust measurement and evaluation approaches to assess and continuously improve communications initiatives.

Required profile

• Relevant third‑level qualification or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in internal communications and employee engagement, preferably in digital or AI‑enabled environments.
• Strong analytical, strategic planning and organisational skills, with a proven ability to use data and insights.
• Demonstrated experience developing and measuring communications strategies.
• Experience advising senior leaders, ideally within transformation or change contexts.
• Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and influencing abilities.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication, including storytelling and translating complex topics.
• Desirable: experience in a complex, matrixed organisation with multiple business units.
