Fertility Nurse

About the role

ReproMed in Galway is seeking a qualified Fertility Nurse or Midwife to join its multidisciplinary team. The role involves direct patient contact throughout the fertility treatment journey, both in‑person and via telephone or email, ensuring compassionate and professional care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform transvaginal ultrasounds (assessment scans, follicle tracking, cycle monitoring, early pregnancy scans).
• Conduct phlebotomy, cannulation and administer injections.
• Provide nurse consultations and patient education.
• Collaborate with Fertility Consultants to develop tailored treatment plans.
• Assist in theatre for egg collection, embryo transfer, hysteroscopy and surgical sperm retrieval.
• Perform intra‑uterine inseminations (IUIs) and monitor post‑sedation recovery.
• Process blood samples and support daily clinic operations.
• Coordinate treatment cycles and egg‑donation programmes.
• Prepare prescriptions, blood‑test forms and therapy plans.
• Liaise with external clinics, pharmacies and manage obstetric referrals.
• Document patient interactions in management software and maintain accurate records.
• Respond to patient calls and emails with empathy, conduct care check‑ins and provide counselling.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) or Midwife (RM) with 2‑3 years post‑registration experience.
• Full registration with NMBI and willingness to maintain it.
• Fertility experience desirable but not essential.
• Sonography/ultrasound experience desirable but not essential.
• Ability to comply with EU Tissue & Cells Directive and related legislation (training provided).
