Financial Accountant (Fixed Term Maternity Cover)

About the role

Americold is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to cover a 12‑month maternity leave. The role will be based in either Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan or Dublin and reports to the Senior Financial Controller. You will help ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls and compliance with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and support the month‑end close process.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and calculate monthly depreciation.
• Perform balance‑sheet and cash‑book reconciliations.
• Complete monthly reconciliations across all balance‑sheet accounts.
• Develop and maintain robust financial controls.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements and SOX Light principles.
• Prepare VAT and RCT returns accurately and on time.
• Assist in the preparation of annual statutory accounts.
• Liaise with external auditors and support audit requirements.
• Produce ad‑hoc financial reports and analysis as needed.
• Support finance projects and business initiatives for the senior controller and leadership team.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) with at least 5 years of experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.
• Proven experience in month‑end accounting and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Knowledge of VAT and financial compliance requirements.
• High level of accuracy, attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
