Financial Accountant

About the role

The finance team of a leading semi‑state body is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to support reporting across multiple business areas. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for preparing management accounts, financial statements and providing analytical support to stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts and financial reports.
• Manage month‑end activities, including general ledger reviews, journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare annual and interim financial statements in accordance with FRS102.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and regulatory reporting.
• Support tax return preparation and coordinate internal/external audits.
• Provide financial analysis and business partnering to various stakeholders.
• Identify and implement improvements to reporting processes and controls.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Minimum 2 years post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in financial services or banking is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
• Proactive, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel.
• Experience with ERP/general ledger systems (e.g., Infor SunSystems).
