Financial Controller (Construction)

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Financial Controller to lead the finance function within a fast‑moving construction environment. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, driving cost efficiencies, and supporting strategic decision‑making through robust analysis and modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day finance operations and oversee the statutory and year‑end close.
• Review, improve and maintain financial systems and processes.
• Develop project costing, margin analysis and sales reporting.
• Perform financial modelling, cash‑flow management and capital‑expenditure reviews.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts with insightful commentary.
• Monitor work‑in‑progress (WIP) and fixed‑asset registers.
• Deliver KPI reporting and performance analysis to senior management.
• Support project work and ensure accurate financial data throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven experience in the construction sector.
• Commercially oriented with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and work independently.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational abilities and capacity to prioritise tasks.
• Good interpersonal skills and a process‑oriented, “can‑do” attitude.
