Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join the senior leadership team of a well‑established engineering and steel fabrication business in Tipperary. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will own the finance function, delivering accurate reporting, robust controls and strategic financial insight to support continued growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day finance operations, including payroll, AP, AR and general ledger.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports for senior management.
• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management processes.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee the year‑end audit and liaise with external auditors and advisors.
• Develop and maintain financial controls, policies and procedures.
• Partner with operational teams to drive cost control, efficiency improvements and profitability.
• Mentor and develop members of the finance team.

Required profile

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance role.
• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction or project‑based environments is highly desirable.
• Strong commercial acumen and business partnering skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working with ERP systems.
