Finishing Supervisor – Construction Site

About the role

The Finishing Supervisor will lead and coordinate all finishing trades on construction sites, ensuring that internal and external finishes are completed to the highest quality standards and on schedule. You will work closely with site management, subcontractors and other trade teams to deliver defect‑free handovers that meet client expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise plastering, joinery, painting, tiling and specialist finishing trades, ensuring work follows the required sequence and standards.
• Plan and programme finishing activities with the site manager and subcontractors to meet programme milestones.
• Conduct daily quality inspections, identify defects and enforce rectification.
• Mentor finishing operatives, promote best practice and drive continuous improvement.
• Manage subcontractor performance, issue instructions and escalate non‑conformance or programme risks.
• Maintain accurate progress, labour and material records; produce daily reports and update snagging registers.
• Coordinate with site management, clients and other trades to resolve interface issues and ensure safe access.
• Enforce health, safety, quality and environmental procedures, conduct toolbox talks and monitor PPE use.
• Support material procurement, stock control and close‑out of defects prior to practical completion.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising finishing trades on construction projects, preferably with a main contractor or developer.
• Strong technical knowledge of plastering, painting, joinery, tiling and related workmanship standards.
• Experience managing subcontractors and multi‑trade interfaces.
• Good understanding of quality control, snagging processes and handover documentation.
• Sound knowledge of health & safety legislation; CSCS or equivalent qualification is desirable.
• Organised, methodical and competent with mobile/site reporting tools and Microsoft Office.
