Finishing Supervisor

About the role
The Finishing Supervisor will lead and coordinate all finishing trades on construction sites, ensuring high‑quality internal and external finishes are delivered on time and to client specifications. This position works closely with site management, subcontractors and other trades to achieve defect‑free handovers.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise plastering, joinery, painting, tiling and specialist finishing activities, ensuring correct sequencing and standards.
- Plan and programme finishing works with the site manager and subcontractors to meet programme milestones.
- Conduct daily quality inspections, identify defects and enforce rectification.
- Mentor finishing operatives, promote best practices and drive continuous improvement.
- Manage subcontractor performance, issue work instructions and flag non‑conformance or schedule risks.
- Maintain accurate progress, labour and material records; produce daily reports and update snagging registers.
- Coordinate with site management, clients and other trades to resolve interface issues and ensure safe site access.
- Enforce health, safety, quality and environmental procedures, including toolbox talks and PPE monitoring.
- Support material procurement, stock control and close‑out of defects prior to practical completion.
Required profile
- Proven experience supervising finishing trades on construction projects, preferably with a main contractor or developer.
- Strong technical knowledge of plastering, painting, joinery, tiling and related finishing methods.
- Experience managing subcontractors and multi‑trade interfaces.
- Good understanding of quality control, snagging processes and handover documentation.
- Sound knowledge of health & safety legislation; CSCS or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Organised, methodical and competent with mobile/site reporting tools and Microsoft Office.
