Firmware Engineer (MTS-2) – Embedded Software

About the role

NetApp is seeking a motivated Firmware Engineer (MTS-2) to join its Cork team. You will work on cutting‑edge storage and data infrastructure products, collaborating with hardware and software groups to deliver reliable embedded solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain firmware for new and existing NetApp products.
• Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Debug and troubleshoot firmware issues using industry‑standard tools.
• Create and execute unit tests, built‑in unit tests, and functional tests.
• Implement DevOps and CI/CD practices to streamline development and deployment.
• Participate in code and document reviews, including validation of AI‑generated code.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• 1‑2 years of experience in firmware or embedded software development or testing.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with BIOS, embedded systems, or bootloaders.
• Familiarity with debugging tools and techniques.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor for code generation, debugging, and test automation.
