Full Stack Engineer – Web Applications

About the role

University College Dublin is seeking a full‑time Full Stack Engineer to design, develop and maintain web applications that support teaching, research and administrative activities across the campus.

Key responsibilities

• Implement responsive front‑end user interfaces using CSS, HTML and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Build and optimise back‑end services, APIs and database integrations.
• Ensure applications are secure, scalable and reliable.
• Collaborate with academic and professional staff to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews, testing and documentation.
• Improve development workflows, contribute to architectural decisions and support continuous enhancement of digital platforms.

Required profile

• Strong full‑stack development experience with end‑to‑end web solutions.
• Proficiency in front‑end technologies (CSS, HTML, modern JavaScript frameworks).
• Experience building APIs, working with databases and implementing server‑side logic.
• Knowledge of web architectures, version control (Git) and CI/CD practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an academic environment.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerisation or DevOps is an advantage.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards and user‑centred design principles is beneficial.
