General Practitioner – GMS Scheme (LK0526)

About the role

The Health Service Executive (HSE) is recruiting a qualified General Practitioner to join the General Medical Services (GMS) scheme in the Ballyraine area of Letterkenny. This permanent, whole‑time position will deliver primary care services to the local community within the HSE West and North West region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care, including diagnosis, treatment and preventive health services.
• Manage a patient list in accordance with the GMS contract requirements.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to HSE policies and clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo and Galway.
• Participate in continuous professional development and quality improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Medical degree and full registration with the Irish Medical Council.
• Current licence to practise as a General Practitioner in Ireland.
• Experience in primary care or community medicine is preferred.
• Willingness to work in the Letterkenny area and serve the local population.

Required skills

• Proficiency in delivering primary care services.
• Ability to use electronic patient record systems.
• Strong clinical decision‑making and patient communication.
