GP Conversion Programme – 2‑Year Specialist Training in Ireland

About the role
This is a two‑year General Practitioner conversion programme based in rural Ireland. It offers qualified doctors the chance to deliver patient care while completing recognised training and examinations to achieve specialist status in Family Medicine.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality primary care to patients of all ages in rural GP clinics.
- Manage acute and chronic illnesses independently.
- Undertake self‑directed learning through the Irish College of General Practitioners (ICGP).
- Prepare for and sit the CCT and CKT examinations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and adapt to diverse clinical settings.
Required profile
- Minimum 36 months of unsupervised full‑time GP/Family Medicine experience.
- Experience delivering patient appointments in primary care, including acute, chronic and all‑age care.
- Eligibility for General Registration with the Irish Medical Council.
- Strong spoken and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to new clinical environments.
