Group Financial Controller

About the role

We are partnering with a well‑established multi‑entity business to hire a Group Financial Controller reporting directly to the CFO. This senior leadership position will oversee finance across several operating entities, driving group reporting, controls, compliance and finance transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead monthly consolidation and preparation of group management accounts, analysing performance versus budget and prior year.
• Manage the annual budgeting process and quarterly re‑forecasting in partnership with operational and senior leadership teams.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives, improving processes, systems and reporting to create an insight‑led finance function.
• Develop and implement a group‑wide KPI framework with financial and operational metrics.
• Enhance financial analytics through dashboards, reporting tools and forward‑looking analysis.
• Identify and implement automation and AI opportunities across reconciliations, forecasting, reporting and transactional activities.
• Strengthen financial controls, policies and procedures across the group.
• Lead, mentor and develop a finance team covering controllership and shared services.
• Oversee treasury, cash flow and banking relationships.
• Support the CFO on strategic initiatives such as system integrations, investment analysis and wider business projects.
• Own the year‑end audit process and manage external auditor relationships.
• Oversee statutory and tax compliance for all group entities.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA preferred).
• Significant post‑qualified experience in a senior finance leadership role.
• Proven experience managing group consolidations across multiple legal entities.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge of FRS 102 and/or IFRS.
• Commercially minded with the ability to influence senior non‑finance stakeholders.
• Comfortable operating in a dynamic, multi‑site, operationally focused business.
