Group Financial Controller

About the role

EirGrid is seeking a Group Financial Controller to join its Chief Finance Office. Reporting to the CFO, this director‑level position will lead corporate financial management, regulatory accounting and capital‑expenditure control for Ireland’s expanding state‑backed electricity transmission assets.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver statutory financial reporting packages for the holding minister and the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment.
• Direct regulatory accounting and reporting in line with the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) requirements.
• Coordinate the statutory audit relationship with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies.
• Lead the design and execution of long‑term financial models supporting 5‑year corporate plans and national grid expansion.
• Oversee advanced Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and maintain a Financial Business Partner model across engineering and asset operations.
• Manage financial governance for a multi‑billion‑euro capital investment programme.

Required profile

• Director‑level experience balancing public‑sector accountability with commercial growth.
• Proven track record in overseeing large‑scale capital investment programmes in the energy or infrastructure sector.
• Strong background in regulatory accounting, statutory reporting and audit management.
• Ability to lead long‑term financial modelling and strategic financial planning.
