Head of Cyber Security

About the role

The Head of Cyber Security leads BoyleSports’ overall security posture, shaping strategy, policy and risk appetite while actively defending the organisation. This is a hands‑on leadership position that combines strategic governance with day‑to‑day operation of the Security Operations Centre (SOC) and direct incident command.

Key responsibilities

• Define, maintain and communicate the cyber security strategy, risk appetite and security policies across all business units.
• Provide dotted‑line technical authority over security architecture and engineering, approving designs and enforcing controls.
• Own the relationship with regulators, auditors and the Board, reporting on cyber posture, material risks and incident outcomes.
• Run the in‑house SOC, manage detection engineering, lead threat‑hunting programmes and command major (P1) incidents.
• Oversee the Palo Alto Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) and ensure quality of detection and response work.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Engineering and Infrastructure leaders to embed security standards into cloud, retail, corporate and product environments.

Required profile

• Senior security leader with extensive hands‑on experience in defensive operations and SOC management.
• Demonstrated ability to set security strategy, policies and risk frameworks in regulated industries.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with executives, regulators and board members.
• Proven track record of leading incident response and threat‑hunting initiatives.

Required skills

• Operational expertise in Security Operations Centre (SOC) processes.
• Experience with Palo Alto Networks security solutions and Managed Security Service Providers.
• Proficiency with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
• Hands‑on threat hunting and incident response capabilities.
