About the role
The Head of Data Protection Office – Europe will lead the bank’s EU privacy strategy, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations across all operations. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, this senior position partners with legal, risk, security and operational teams to embed privacy best‑practice throughout the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on EU data protection and privacy requirements for general processing, new business initiatives, and commercial offerings.
- Manage third‑country data transfers and maintain the register of processing activities.
- Lead investigations and response to potential data breaches.
- Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments and monitor emerging privacy legislation.
- Develop and deliver privacy training programmes for employees.
- Collaborate with Legal, Operational Risk, Information Security, Risk Management and Operations to align privacy controls with business objectives.
Required profile
- Demonstrated subject‑matter expertise in EU data protection and privacy laws, particularly GDPR.
- Proven experience applying privacy regulations in the financial services sector.
- Ability to interpret, advise on and monitor compliance with evolving European privacy legislation.
