Head of Engineering & Site Reliability – Manufacturing

About the role

The organisation is seeking a senior engineering leader to own the maintenance strategy, asset reliability and engineering excellence across a high‑performing pharmaceutical production facility. Reporting to senior site leadership, you will shape and execute a reliability‑centred approach that keeps critical equipment running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Lead all maintenance and engineering activities for production and facility assets.
• Design and roll out preventive, predictive and reliability‑centred maintenance programmes.
• Drive equipment uptime, asset performance and operational efficiency improvements.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing team of technicians and engineers.
• Plan maintenance schedules to minimise production disruption.
• Support complex troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Identify and implement reliability improvement opportunities.
• Manage budgets, contractor performance and spare‑parts inventory.
• Oversee external vendors ensuring quality and compliance.
• Maintain CMMS data integrity and use analytics for decision‑making.
• Champion continuous‑improvement, lean manufacturing and operational‑excellence initiatives.
• Prepare performance metrics, downtime analysis and improvement plans for senior stakeholders.
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades and future site development.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Maintenance, Engineering or Reliability leadership role.
• Background in pharmaceutical, food, chemical, medical‑device or similar industrial production environments.
• Track record of leading maintenance teams and delivering engineering improvement projects.
• Strong communication, stakeholder‑management and organisational abilities.
• Engineering degree, technical qualification or relevant trade background is desirable.
