Health & Safety Lead

About the role
The Health & Safety Lead will own the safety planning and coordination for a large‑scale manufacturing site, from design through to operational readiness. You will ensure that every phase complies with local, national and EU health‑and‑safety regulations while fostering a strong safety culture on‑site.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain H&S plans, risk assessments, prevention plans and coordination documents throughout design, installation, commissioning and hand‑over.
- Ensure tender documents and project specifications meet all internal and external H&S standards.
- Partner with regulatory authorities, monitor updates and implement required changes across the site.
- Conduct audits, inspections and post‑mortem reviews, maintaining audit‑ready documentation and site safety maps.
- Lead safety trainings, inductions and behavioral‑safety programs; support safety committees and regular meetings.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, R&I, Maintenance and Supply Chain to guarantee H&S readiness for trial runs and changeovers.
- Provide structured progress, risk and readiness updates to the Project Director and senior leadership.
Required profile
- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience managing H&S on construction projects exceeding €50 million, preferably in food manufacturing.
- Deep knowledge of local, national and EU health‑and‑safety regulations.
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and drive continuous safety improvements.
Required skills
- Risk assessment and mitigation planning.
- H&S audit and inspection execution.
- Development of H&S SOPs, training materials and documentation.
- Incident recording, investigation and reporting.
